Preparing your audio files for mastering
We accept source audio for mastering
in any standard audio file format such as WAV,
AIFF and SDII. You may send us a standard audio
CD or a DVD containing your songs. We prefer you
send us a finished stereo mixdown of each of your
songs without any master processing applied such
as compression or equalization. Try to save your
mix downs in the same format you recorded them
as. Example: If you recorded your multi-track
session as 24 bit 48 kHz, bounce down your final
stereo mix at 24 bit 48 kHz as WAV, AIFF and save
the files to a standard CD or DVD.
*All
songs should be final ‘consolidated' files, not
a multitrack Logic or ProTools Session and all
should be interleaved (not separate left and right
files).
PLEASE LEAVE SOME HEADROOM IN YOUR MIXES
This is perhaps the number one problem we
encounter in today's world of digital limiters,
maximizer plug-ins, etc. If the delivered mixes
are already heavily limited and running right
up to 0dBFS, there is MUCH less that can be accomplished
in the mastering process to correct any problems
that may exist. Listen carefully to your mixes
for clipping and distortion, these problems usually
become much more apparent during mastering and
can be difficult or impossible to fix in a transparent
fashion.
Sending us your audio files via the internet
You
should preferably have a broadband internet connection
to send your project via the internet. Email your
audio files to audio@xtreamaudio.com
using YouSendIt.com,
SendThisFile.com Sendspace.com or some
other large file transfer service. These are all
free, fast and easy to use.
